Welcome to beautiful Vancouver! Rose and I are so glad you’re here and excited to begin this journey together. After you arrive and get settled, your Cosmos Tour Director will be available in the afternoon to answer any questions, but this first evening is really about arriving, unwinding, and easing into the adventure.
You’ll be staying at the conveniently located Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre, right in downtown Vancouver. If you’re feeling up to it, we encourage you to step out for a relaxed walk along the waterfront or enjoy dinner at one of the many great restaurants nearby. There’s no rush tonight—just time to settle in, rest, and enjoy that wonderful feeling of knowing our journey together has officially begun.
After a good night’s rest, Rose and I will join you this morning for an included city tour of Vancouver, a wonderful introduction to this vibrant coastal city. Together, we’ll see highlights like Stanley Park, Chinatown, the harbor, and the beautiful beaches that make Vancouver so special—all while learning more about the city’s culture and history from our guide.
The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your own pace, with our home base again at the Sandman Hotel Vancouver City Centre. You might choose to take a water taxi over to lively Granville Island, known for its outdoor markets, street musicians, and waterfront cafés, or stroll through historic Gastown to see the famous steam-powered clock, browse unique shops, and explore local art galleries. Whether you’re out exploring or simply relaxing, this is a perfect day to enjoy Vancouver your way.
Today is a highlight of the journey as Rose and I board the iconic Rocky Mountaineer with you for a two-day, all-daylight rail adventure through some of Canada’s most spectacular scenery. This is one of those days where you’ll want to keep your camera close and your coffee nearby as we settle in and simply enjoy the ride.
As the train glides through the dramatic Fraser and Thompson River canyons, we’ll watch the landscape change right outside our window—towering cliffs, rushing rivers, and wide-open valleys that feel wonderfully untouched. Breakfast and lunch are included onboard, so you can relax, enjoy great conversation, and take in the views without worrying about a thing. By evening, we’ll arrive in Kamloops, where we’ll settle in for the night, already full of incredible sights and excited for what tomorrow’s journey will bring.
This morning, Rose and I will reboard the Rocky Mountaineer with you as our rail adventure continues deeper into the heart of the Canadian wilderness. We’ll travel alongside the peaceful waters of Shuswap Lake, then wind through the rugged beauty of the Columbia Mountains as the scenery becomes more dramatic with every mile.
One of today’s highlights is passing through the famous Spiral Tunnels and climbing Kicking Horse Pass as we cross the Continental Divide into Alberta—a true engineering marvel and a memorable moment to experience together. Breakfast and lunch are included onboard, giving us plenty of time to relax, visit, and soak in the ever-changing views. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Banff National Park, Canada’s first national park, where we’ll settle in for a two-night stay surrounded by towering peaks and stunning alpine scenery.
During our stay in Banff National Park, Rose and I will be staying with you at the comfortable Rundlestone Lodge, conveniently located along Banff Avenue near the heart of town.
After an orientation tour this morning, today is yours to enjoy at your own pace here in breathtaking Banff National Park. Rose and I love days like this—no rushing, just time to choose what speaks to you most. You might head out on one of the many scenic hiking trails, take a leisurely stroll through the charming Banff townsite, or simply unwind and soak in the famous hot springs surrounded by mountain views.
This area is a dream for photographers and nature lovers, and wildlife sightings are always possible. Keep an eye out for elk, deer, or bighorn sheep as they move through their natural habitat—it’s one of those moments that reminds you how special this place really is. For those looking to add something truly unforgettable, there’s also the option to take a helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies, offering breathtaking views and a once-in-a-lifetime perspective. However you choose to spend the day, it’s all about enjoying Banff in a way that feels just right for you.
Today is one of those days that truly defines this journey, and Rose and I are excited to experience it alongside you. We’ll begin with a visit to iconic Lake Louise, where the turquoise waters perfectly mirror the surrounding mountains and glaciers—a place that never fails to take our breath away.
From there, we’ll travel the spectacular Icefields Parkway, often called one of the most scenic drives in the world. Along the way, we’ll stop for an unforgettable ride on the Ice Explorer, an all-terrain vehicle that takes us right out onto the ancient Athabasca Glacier—nearly 750 feet thick beneath our feet. Later this afternoon, you’ll have the option to enjoy a gentle scenic float trip along the Athabasca River, a relaxing way to take in the beauty from a whole new perspective. We’ll end the day with an orientation tour of Jasper, settling in and reflecting on a day filled with incredible scenery and shared moments.
During our time in Jasper, Rose and I will be staying with you at the comfortable Lobstick Lodge, set in a quiet mountain setting just outside town—an ideal place to relax and enjoy beautiful mountain views after a full day of exploring.
Today is all about wide-open landscapes and classic Canadian scenery. Rose and I will travel with you to the base of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies—an impressive sight and a favorite photo stop along the way.
As we continue through British Columbia’s historic Fur Trade and Cariboo regions, we’ll enjoy views of soaring granite mountains and keep an eye out for wildlife as the scenery shifts from rugged peaks to peaceful valleys. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in the resort town of Sun Peaks for an overnight stay.
We’ll be staying together at Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge, a cozy mountain lodge surrounded by beautiful alpine views—an ideal place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the quieter side of the Rockies before continuing our journey.
Today we head south together, following the historic Cariboo Wagon Trail, once a challenging route for early settlers and gold seekers. We’ll pass through Lillooet, known as “Mile 0 of the Gold Rush Route,” then continue alongside the rushing waters of Cayoosh Creek as the scenery shifts once again.
By afternoon, we’ll arrive in the mountain resort town of Whistler for an orientation and time to get settled. Rose and I love this part of the journey—it’s a wonderful blend of history, natural beauty, and relaxed mountain-town energy.
We’ll be staying together at the centrally located Listel Whistler Hotel, right in the heart of the village—an easy and comfortable home base for enjoying everything Whistler has to offer.
Today is a wonderful chance to enjoy Whistler at your own pace, and Rose and I love that this day lets everyone choose what feels just right. If you’re looking for unforgettable views, you may want to consider the optional Peak 2 Peak Gondola, soaring high between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and offering breathtaking scenery from every angle. (Please note this experience is seasonal and may not be available on early departures.)
If staying closer to the village sounds more appealing, another meaningful option is a visit to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, where you can learn more about the region’s Indigenous heritage through art, storytelling, and exhibits. Or you may simply choose to wander the village, enjoy a relaxed meal, or take in the mountain atmosphere at your own pace. However you spend the day, it’s all about slowing down, enjoying Whistler, and savoring the journey together.
Today we travel together across the scenic Strait of Georgia as we make our way to Victoria on beautiful Vancouver Island. Once we arrive, Rose and I will join you for sightseeing that includes a visit to the stunning Butchart Gardens, where 55 acres of colorful floral displays create a truly unforgettable experience.
We’ll also see several of Victoria’s iconic landmarks, including the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel, the Legislative Buildings, Bastion Square, and Thunderbird Park—each adding to the charm and history of this coastal city. This evening is free to enjoy at your own pace, and we highly recommend a relaxed stroll along the picturesque Inner Harbour as the lights come on and the city settles into a peaceful rhythm.
We’ll be staying together at the centrally located Royal Scot Hotel & Suites, just a short walk from the harbor—an easy and comfortable home base for enjoying everything Victoria has to offer.
Today is yours to enjoy the charm of Victoria at your own pace, and Rose and I love that this day gives you the freedom to choose what sounds most enjoyable. You might treat yourself to a classic high tea at the elegant Fairmont Empress Hotel, browse the shops along Government Street, or settle in for lunch at one of the city’s cozy pubs.
Your Cosmos Tour Director will be happy to offer suggestions for shopping, dining, or additional sightseeing. For those looking to add a bit of adventure, there’s also an optional Marine Wildlife and Whale-Watching Expedition, where you’ll cruise the scenic waters of the San Juan and Gulf Islands in search of whales, porpoises, seals, and soaring eagles. However you choose to spend the day, it’s a wonderful way to enjoy Victoria’s relaxed coastal atmosphere before our journey winds down.
Today we enjoy one final scenic ferry crossing back to the mainland as our Canadian journey comes to a close. Rose and I will be savoring these last moments together—reflecting on the incredible scenery, shared experiences, and memories we’ve made along the way. Transfers to Vancouver International Airport are included, with individual departures scheduled after 2:00 pm.
If you’re not quite ready for the adventure to end, you may choose to extend your stay with additional nights in Vancouver, giving you more time to explore this beautiful city at your own pace. However you choose to wrap up your travels, we’re so grateful you shared this journey with us—and we hope the memories stay with you long after you return home.
